These days, it’s near impossible to scroll through your Instagram feed without seeing a picture of latte art, a food photographer’s latest capture or even just what your friend had for lunch. Food and Instagram are made for each other – all those artfully arranged flat-lays and beautifully styled dishes. It gets a bit intimidating!
But if you’re an Instagram addict like me, you’re always up for a new follow so I thought I’d share a few fun food Instagram accounts. I say fun because these are not accounts for realistic dinner inspiration. One look and you’ll see that the food is not what you’d try at home, but they’re creative and clever. These talented Instagrammers always make me smile:
This is serious food porn right here. Gastro Art curates some of the most stunning food presentation in the world, much of it from restaurants and top chefs.
An LA-based food photographer, Julie’s shots are all stunning but my favourites are her food collages. Who’d have thought fruit and veg could look so good?
Jacob’s Food Diaries
The work of a very clever mum from Melbourne, Jacob’s Food Diaries features images of food that recreates favourite characters. I don’t ever plan on showing this account to my kids in case they get any ideas, but boy are they cool!
Fat & Furious Burger
Burgers, but not as you know them. Fat & Furious Burgers is the account of two French graphic designers who decided to create some crazy burger combinations. There’s not much these guys haven’t put between two buns! A cookbook is on the way, too.
Good Food Crap Drawing
In her day job as art director at Gourmet Traveller magazine, Anna Vu oversees many of Australia’s most beautiful food images from leading photographers, stylists and chefs. So it’s no surprise that her account features delightful illustrations of well-known dishes from Australia’s top restaurants. Always eye-catching.
Another food photographer, Brittany Wright colourful images jump out at you with their rainbow arrangements and clever composition.
Appreciate a good pun? Talking Food is a playful account that combines clean food images with foodie puns that reference pop culture and well-known idioms.
